Sleep in cemetaries, they are free. just go , you won't regret it.

Carry enough money to get you back home in case of emergency unless someone else wil be responsible for ya and can wire you money for a bus or train ride if things go wrong.

I circled the country in 2006, it took me three weeks, and that wasn't enough time to do everything I'd have liked to. It's more about the ride than the destination, but figure out where you want to go, arrange your time off, and just go. Take the practical things like a tire repair kit, some basic tools, clothes, rain gear, your camera. And take a couple credit cards. Keep one in your wallet and put the other one somewhere else, in your tank bag, for example, so that if you lose one you'll have the other. Most importantly, have fun!

If you're interested, here's the trip report I did back then.

Default Isthus of Panama

Adam,

If you really have unlimited time, I say make it count. You can always tour the states on your Goldwing when your a Senior Citizen.

How about riding to La Paz, Baja. Maybe get a little snorkeling in, then catch the ferry to the mainland where you could head south through southern Mexico, through Central America - to the Isthus of Panama.

Just hassling you Adam...sounds like an adventure - have fun.

+1 on pashnit.com

They have some great route maps and a very, very experienced community that can give you solid advice to enhance your trip.

"What should I do? I know Im going to go to ______"
And go.

I dont have any concrete details yet and Ill probably do a bit more planning then mentioned, a bit but not much, point is whos going with me?
